Ethical Recruitment

We are an ethical recruitment company. We believe that this is important; it’s one of the key factors that differentiates us from our competitors and is a key consideration in clients returning to us.

In these days of sound bites, slogans, catch phrases and lies I thought it would be interesting to consider what being an ethical recruiter actually means.

I’ve already exposed some of the behaviours employed by some (well known) agencies in my blog entitled ‘Sharp Practices’ which you can read below, the purpose of this article is how to do things correctly.

You would think any agency with any sense will treat their client with respect, ultimately the client pays the bill! However the way in which candidates are treated are equally important – candidates are people who have invested time and effort in applying for a role and deserve to be treated with respect.

It’s perhaps easiest to explain how our practices are different by pointing our what we don’t do:

  • We don’t advertise jobs that don’t exist / have been filled
  • We don’t inflate salaries to attract candidates and then lower their expectations by explaining their shortfalls
  • We do communicate any and all feedback instantly to candidates, ensuring that they are kept in the loop
  • We do chase clients voraciously for feedback when it’s slow to emerge
  • We only interview candidates who are suitable for the role and have a realistic chance of being employed by our client – interviewing candidates just to ‘register’ them is a complete waste of everyone’s time and money and from my time on the client side it certainly does not lead to good candidates arriving for interview (I still curse PSLs and another three-letter organisation!).
  • We will only put forward suitable candidates for interview – if we cannot find a suitable candidate we will not send you anyone.
  • We will encourage clients to broaden their candidate search to find the right person rather than someone who has simply been employed in the same role by a competitor.
  • We will thoroughly understand the brief for any given role and the culture of the company; we will then convey the role to candidates in an accurate and positive way ensuring that they are keen and enthusiastic regarding the opportunity.

We are not a group of mercenary individuals – we are dedicated professionals who will do as we say we will.
